William Henry Hatchett, known as Uncle Bill to everybody and to his family as Junior, was born on March 8, 1934 to Henry and Frances Hatchett of Plainfield NJ. He was the oldest of five children and was educated within the Plainfield School System.

Bill, which he preferred to be called, graduated from Plainfield High School and joined the Navy on April 5, 1955. While in basic training, he contracted Scarlet Fever which left him with a weak heart and was honorably discharged.

Returning back home he started working for Acme Toys where he met his wife Luciel Haynes (Hatchett) of Union, NJ. They were wed on August 15, 1959. Their marriage produced three children: Susan, Robert (deceased) and Nora. They were married for 62 years. Bill was employed by Schering Plough Pharmaceuticals (Merck) for over 30 years. Bill and Ciel built a home in Union for their children and attended Union Chapel Church in Union, NJ. Under Revered Edward Jones (deceased), he was baptized, accepted Christ in his life and was ordained as a Deacon of the church.

Bill loved sports. He loved to fish and golf. He volunteered to work at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, NJ for the 2005 Majors Golf Tournament where Phil Mickelson won the Green Jacket that year; a highlight of his golfing career.

In 2007 Bill and Luciel moved to Palm Bay, FL and joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where he continued to serve as a Deacon of the church under Pastor Nathaniel Harris. His life was filled with love and laughter, and he volunteered wherever he was able to. He was always known as a kind and quiet man. He loved his family and always took care of them.

He leaves to cherish his memory and love: his wife, Reverend Luciel Hatchett; his daughters, Susan Patrick of Aurora, CO (Steven) and Nora of Palm Bay FL; his grandchildren, Stephanie Kell of AK (Kenny), Shannon Patrick of CO, Dominique Bogar of NJ, Anthany Bogar-Hatchett of FL (Stevie) and Kiya Hatchett-Johnson of FL; four great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
