Timothy Kenneth Wakely, beloved husband of Barbara C. Wakely, passed away peacefully at Atlantic Shores Rehab in Melbourne after a brief illness.

He was born in Bangor, Maine, the eldest son of the late Kenneth W. and Arlyne J. Wakely.   He was a proud alumni of John Bapst Memorial High School.  Of the many prized memories from his childhood, Tim always recalled being the starting center “#50” for the John Bapst High School football team.  He helped them win the State Championship in 1964. He attended the University of Maine and University of Tampa.  He was pre-deceased by his brother, Robert A. Wakely of Walpole, MA.
He was an accomplished musician and golfer, who had an amazing smile and contagious sense of humor.  His “can do” mindset was the attitude that carried him through his life. He loved pizza and burgers (thus the nickname Wimpy), but the love of his life was Barbara.

They became friends during their time as members of the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce.   Tim eventually came to work at Jones-Hoxie.  They purchased the business in 1979 and married a year later.   Jones-Hoxie Corporation became one of Maine’s largest insurance agencies.  Under the leadership of Tim and Barbara, the agency and its employees were known for putting the client first and treating everyone with professionalism, honesty and integrity.  Jones-Hoxie was not a business.  It was a living, loving family organization that will remain forever etched in the cherished memories of anyone associated with it.
In addition to his wife, his greatest joy came from the love shared with his children and grandchildren.  He could always make you laugh, had the kindest eyes and greatest smile.  He created special memories with each one of his grandchildren; Lance, Scott, Alyssa, Addison & Ella that they will always cherish. He even got to meet his great grandson, Carter.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara C. Wakely of Melbourne, FL; son, Christopher K. Wakely (Bridget) of Kirkland, WA; daughter, Mary M. Cloutier (Dominique III) of Jefferson, ME; daughter, Sally J. Pelletier (Peter) of Intervale, NH; daughter, Nancy Spaulding (Mark) of Randolph, ME; sister, Kathryn Wakely of Brewer, ME and daughters Amanda and Stacie; sister in law, Ann Wakely (Bob) of Walpole, MA and her son, Nick.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Buggs Funeral Home in Melbourne.  The viewing will be at 12:00 p.m. with a service directly following at 1:00 p.m.  The service will be streamed live for those who are unable to attend in person.
