In Loving Memory of Robert Scott Michaels
March 5, 1963 – June 11, 2025
Robert Scott Michaels, age 62, passed away on June 11, 2025. Born on March 5, 1963, Robert — known by many simply as “Bobby” — was a man of music, faith, boldness, and transformation.
From a young age, Robert had a deep passion for music. He inherited that love from his father, Joseph George Zahar, a well-known musician who performed under the stage name Ray Michaels. Robert followed in those footsteps, becoming a talented musician himself and also working as an electrician. He combined both crafts in a unique way, dedicating countless hours to working on sound equipment at his church and creating in his personal sanctuary — his studio at home. His love for music — especially the rock bands of the ’80s and contemporary Christian — was a defining part of his life. He fully embodied the rocker spirit, with long split-dyed hair, chunky jewelry, and bold, patterned outfits and shoes. His eccentric fashion style and electric energy made him impossible to miss, and even more impossible to forget.
He also had a playful side and a passion for life’s simple joys. Robert loved candy and sweets, especially French silk pie — his favorite treat.
Robert also had a soft spot for animals, raising generations of dogs he all named “Queenie,” each with its own number. He found humor in the little things, and excitement in online shopping (there always seemed to be an Amazon package at the door).
He enjoyed traveling and trying new things, always seeking adventure and getting bored quickly — a trait his daughter lovingly shares. He was also a proud fan of the Miami Dolphins, and football was one of his favorite ways to kick back and enjoy life.
Robert was bold, outspoken, and often unfiltered — a combination that made everyone around him laugh and shake their heads. Friends and family will fondly remember the many times they had to say, “Shut up, Bobby!” with a smile.
Though life brought its challenges, Robert grew deeply in reflection and faith as he got older. He reconnected with his family, grew closer to his daughter Leena, and found peace and purpose within his church community. He was proud of his faith in God and believed strongly in preparing for all things — even doomsday — with meals, gear, and, yes, even a fire suit he once said was for Leena. His quirky preparedness and unfiltered honesty often made those around him laugh and shake their heads with love.
Robert is survived by his ex-wife, Sheila K. Michaels, and his beloved daughter, Leena Rose Michaels. He is also remembered by many friends he made throughout his journey from Miami to Melbourne, Florida, and by the memory of his cherished mother, Jean L. Wilson, who held a special place in his heart.
He was bold, outgoing, and youthful in spirit. While he was far from perfect, he grew in ways that mattered — in heart, in love, and in faith. His journey may have had its twists, but those who knew him saw a man who ultimately found peace, connection, and a purpose greater than himself.
Robert will be missed deeply and remembered with both laughter and love.
