In Loving Memory of Robert (Bob) Edward Dillon

Robert (Bob) Edward Dillon, age 77, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away on July 22, 2026.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Bob was the beloved son of the late Ernestine and Franklin Dillon. He grew up in Indianapolis, where he attended local schools before earning his degree from Ball State University.

A proud veteran, Bob served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his active service, he joined the Air Force Reserves and relocated to the Chicago area, where he met the love of his life, Maria.

In 1997, Bob & Maria relocated to Satellite Beach, FL where Bob finished his reservist career at Patrick Air Force Base. Bob proudly served his country when his reserve unit was deployed during Operation Enduring Freedom, serving 2 tours in Iraq. After retiring, he committed himself to safeguarding our nation’s sensitive equipment manufacturing by working as a security guard for Allied Universal at L3Harris Technologies. Bob was noted to be a “Rock Star” among his peers. He felt he was continuing to serve his country by securing the L3/Harris campuses and took extreme pride in his work. He supported his fellow security guards whenever they needed him. Bob was a devoted Catholic and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus as a third-degree member.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Ernestine and Franklin Dillon, and his sister, Cathy Gootee.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Maria Dillon; his step-son, Adam Purdy; and his sister, Barbara Dillon Bloom (Richard). Bob also leaves behind his loving nieces, Diana Slone (Josh), Amanda Robbins (Luke), and Lauren Stranger (Tyler); his nephews, Adam Bloom (Rob) and Gregory Gootee (Kyrstie); as well as several cherished grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Bob will be sorely missed and forever in our hearts. May his memory be a blessing to those whose lives he touched.
