Oscar “BoJack” Lewis, Jr. passed away on January 1, 2021 at his home in Palm Bay, Florida. He was born on April 13, 1951, in Lockport, IL to proud parents, Oscar Sr. and Willie Louise (nee Bew) Lewis. He was the third oldest son in a family of four brothers and two sisters.
Oscar attended Fairmont Elementary School and graduated from Lockport Central High School in 1969. He attended Joliet Junior College and Southern IL University. Oscar was employed by Patten Caterpillar in Hammond, IN as a Line Supervisor for 23 years. He retired in April 2014.
Oscar’s passions were basketball (Lakers’ #1 fan), his Harley Davidson Ultra Classic Motorcycle, roller-skating, American Luxury Cars and Bid Whist. He was a member of the Brothers of Soul Aurora, IL Chapter since 1981.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Sr. and Willie Louise Lewis; brothers, Robert Earl Wright and Kenneth Lewis; and sister, LaPearl Lewis; maternal grandparents, Willie B.C. and Louellar W. Bew; uncles, Ivory C. Bew, James R. Bew and George G. Bew.
Oscar is survived by his loving wife, Cassandra Lewis, of Palm Bay, FL; son, Jonathan Lewis, and daughter, Whitney (Michael) Stackhouse both of Joliet, IL, Jaeda Thomas of Palm Bay, FL, Broderick Poe, of Joliet, IL and Brandon Thomas of Dyersburg, TN; brother, Willie (Cheryl) Wright of Naperville, IL; sister, Vanessa (James) McCollum of Decatur, GA; sister-in-law, Kathy Lewis; mother-in-law, Ella Jean Thomas; special nieces and nephews, Andre (Bella) Wright, Bishop Chantel Wright, Curtis Terrell, Shalita (Kevin) Ivey, Cole (Regan) Wright, Tracey Traylor, Aaron Wright, Adrian Shelby and Dana, Barrington, and Kendra Lewis; grandchildren, Chloe Lewis, Mason, Myles and MiKayla Stackhouse, Mishon, Tanasia and Khimari Poe, Jaden Gholston, Zoey Cummings, Zaden and Peyton Thomas; special godson, Ronald Jones, Jr.; special aunts and uncles, Armelda Scott of Gary, IN, Ora Lee (Coy) McElrath, Mamie (Telfair) Reed, Louellar McNear, Lorine (Sam) Mitchell and Dorothy (Cornelius) Gray all of Joliet, IL; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews, and many special friends, including members of the Brothers of Soul Aurora, IL Chapter, Lee (Betty) Pegues and Londza (Mary) Allen.
A Virtual Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 @ 2:00 PM CST / 3:00 PM EST.
