Osby Tyson Warren was born to Henry and Lois Warren on October 9, 1976 in Palm Bay, Florida. He is the youngest of their five children and was nicknamed in his infancy, The Bicentennial Baby (being born in the year that the U.S. turned 200 years old).
As the nation celebrated 200 years of independence throughout the year of 1976, that same independent and celebratory spirit soon became evident inside our very fun-loving, brave, and adventurous baby brother.
From the time Tyson could talk and walk, he was full of energy and usually saying something funny or doing something funny or brave. At that time, he was the smallest person in the house, but when he felt he was being done wrong, he would stand his ground, even with our very tall and domineering father.
Tyson had a “tell”, meaning whenever he did something wrong, he would hold his right hand up over his eyebrow. And we’d know he had done it. On one occasion, our dad was outside getting on him about something, but this time Tyson’s hand did not go up to his eyebrow. He also stomped his foot on the ground and insisted to our dad that he did not do it. He was around 4 or 5 years old then, and when our dad saw that stomping and that his hand did not go up to his brow, he knew Tyson was telling the truth and apologized to him. It was an early sign of the personal integrity that Tyson would demonstrate throughout his life. When he did something wrong, he would literally tell on himself. But when he thought someone else was wrong, he would stand firm on it.
Tyson was a rambunctious child but very caring as well. He was a natural leader in a way that served and helped others. He was active in Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Palm Bay, Florida throughout his childhood. He loved to fish, cook, and bake and started doing so at an early age. Tyson attended Port Malabar Elementary School, Stone Middle School, and graduated from Palm Bay High School in 1994. He played the saxophone in middle school and played football in high school, which led to him getting a football scholarship to Concord University in Athens, West Virginia. He graduated from Concord University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Motel, and Restaurant Management and began working with Hyatt Hotels about a year later.
Tyson’s phenomenal work ethic propelled him onto the fast track at Hyatt and he worked his way into the Director of Food and Beverage, Director of Operations, and ultimately General Manager positions for Hyatt Hotels in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, Reston, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida where his family currently lives.
While working for Hyatt in Atlanta, Tyson met the absolute love of his life, Nneka Arimah. They married in September 2007 and gave birth to the next love of his life, their daughter, Madison Warren in 2010. As the scripture says, Tyson found a good thing when he found his wife and together with their daughter they have lived in many places around the country and traveled the world for work and pleasure, even just to play golf with friends in Scotland.
Tyson was obsessed with the Washington Commanders, but he loved deep sea fishing most. He died while fishing on his boat and while with the two people he loved most, Nneka and Madison. As the book of Ecclesiastes says, we all must die but none of us knows when; therefore, we should enjoy the work that God has given us to do and we should enjoy our lives. And that’s what Tyson did! He enjoyed and excelled in his work! He enjoyed and excelled in his life! He treated people well! He blessed people with his work! He had a quiet relationship with his God, manifesting his faith through the good that he did and gave to others.
“To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness,” Ecclesiastes 2:26
Tyson was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lois Warren and his childhood best friend and cousin, Candace Clark Ramin.
Deeply mourning his loss are his wife and daughter, Nneka and Madison Warren of Orlando, FL; his siblings, Bridgett Warren of Woodbridge, VA, Tamela (LeAndrew) Hughey and Henry Warren Jr. both of Palm Bay, FL, Lancent (Michell) Warren of Rockledge, FL, Derrick (Nadyra) Ingram of Palm Bay, FL, and Natori Warren of Melbourne, FL; his in-laws, Kingsley and Gwen Arimah, Talal Arimah, and Gamel Arimah of Ypsilanti, MI; his aunts Shirley Clark and Rosa Clark, both of Palm Bay, FL, Doretha Clark of Jacksonville, FL, Joanne Dural, Rosetta Davis, and Hattie Kennedy all of Melbourne, FL; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, coworkers, and associates.
