Michael Francis Gallagher, affectionately known as “Mike,” was born on November 17, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York. He was sent to his eternal home on July 24, 2025, in Palm Bay, Florida at the age of 77 due to an accident. Mike was raised by his loving mother and father, Alice and Francis Gallagher alongside his cherished sister, Anne Gallagher Corbo. Mike graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, New York in 1965. He married his first love, Mary Cardascia in New York, in 1970 while serving in the Navy for four
years until 1972. He then became employed as a Senior Field Service Engineer and would remain in that field until he retired nearly 50 years later. He and Mary raised their two girls in Stratford, New Jersey until 1997, then moved to Florida to be near the beach and sunshine. Mary passed in 2001. Michael met Christine Garrigues in 2012 and fell in love with her fun demeanor and zeal for life. They married in 2016 and had been traveling and enjoying life together ever since.
Mike exuded a gentle, compassionate, kind, clever, loving, considerate, and humorous nature. He had a deep, strong belly laugh that could shake the paint off the walls and loved best to be in the presence of his loved ones. He was an amazing and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Always there to listen, always there to offer his love, and always, always, ALWAYS at the ready with a funny joke. Mike was focused on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He had the discipline to eat a broccoli, cauliflower salad daily, but had a true penchant for Boston cream donuts on special occasions. He swam and biked regularly. He enjoyed seafood, sailing, and making the occasional youngster ponder if he was the real Santa Claus with his warm smile and wavy, white beard. He was a Member of the Melbourne Yacht Club, crewing on the J-30 ‘Sleighride’. He volunteered as a host congregation for the organization Family Promise of Brevard, which rehouses homeless families. He, his wife Christine, and their outgoing golden retriever, Samba, would help bring love, encouragement, and a dog belly to rub for families who needed a warm, safe place to stay for the week. Michael would also bring candy every Christmas to the oncology ward that took such good care of Mary until she passed in 2001. He did not miss one year of offering this gesture since that time. He also participated in numerous toy drives over the years. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many
more whose lives were touched by him.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Christine Gallagher; sister, Anne Corbo; sisters-in-law, Teresa Price and Lucille Munson; brother-in-law, Frank Cardascia; daughters, Jennifer Connolly and Stephanie Zermeno; sons in-law, James Connolly and Jesse Zermeno; grandsons, Jonathan, Sebastian, Dominic, Frankie, and Antonio; cousins, Christine, Kathleen, Elizabeth, and Maribeth, and Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews as well as newly discovered cousins in Canada. He was predeceased by his mother, Alice Gallagher, his father, Francis Gallagher, and his first wife, Mary Gallagher.
