Lois Marie Gregg

Lois Marie Gregg, 96, of Merritt Island, passed away June 4, 2023.  The graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 4PM at Florida Memorial Gardens.

Lois Marie Gregg, of Hackensack New Jersey, was born on October 6, 1926 to parents John and Mabel Glinsman and sister to John Glinsman Jr. and Carol Draesel. L ois graduated with a Nursing Degree in 1948 from the Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing where she immediately started working as a visiting nurse for public health. Shortly thereafter, she met the love of her life Harry F. Gregg, during a chance encounter on a train. A brief courtship followed and on February 5, 1949, the two were married. Harry went on to become a Captain in the Coast Guard and Lois affectionately referred to him as her “Captain.”

Lois was survived by her three children: Harry Gregg Jr. (Wife Nancy), Loma Swett (Husband John) and Lloyd Gregg (Wife Susan). Lois was also a loving Grandmother to 9 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.

Lois and family moved to Melbourne, Florida where they resided happily for many years. Eventually, Lois and Harry moved to a house in Indian Harbour Beach where Lois enjoyed her walks by the ocean. She also loved spending time with family, visiting her favorite vacation spot in Oahu, Hawaii and volunteering for The Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. Lois was a devout Christian, and this strong faith helped her through the passing of her beloved husband of 53 years.

Lois resided at La Casa Assisted Living Facility until June 4, 2023 when she peacefully went to be with the Lord and was reunited with her “Captain.” A celebration of life will be held at Florida Memorial Gardens on June 24, 2023 at 4pm. All are welcomed to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to the ALS Foundation at als.org.
