Lennox Edmund Phillips, 94, of Palm Bay, passed away on February 16, 2025. The viewing will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 10:00AM - 12:00PM at Buggs Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00PM.

Lennox Edmund Phillips was born on November 6, 1930 in Ida Sabina, Berbice River, Guyana to Cecil Alexander Phillips and Winifred Reece. He was the fourth of twenty children to C.A. and the first of four children for Winifred. Lennox attended All Saints Anglican School in New Amsterdam, Berbice, and Berbice High School.

He briefly worked with his father, then with the Berbice Bauxite Company (Reynolds), where he later became the manager/leader of the company's Guyana location. He worked in the bauxite industry for over 33 years. He started his career as a tugboat sailor and quickly worked his way up the ranks with several promotions to Tugboat Captain, Shore Captain, Supervisor, Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, Senior Superintendent, and finally, Manager of the company. During this time, he was also a Union Leader and the President of the Cricket Board of Guyana.

In 1985, Lennox Phillips became the first recipient of the Berbice Cricket Board to be honored with an election to Life Membership. He was inducted into the Berbice Cricket Board's Cricket Administration Hall of Fame, and in 2018, he was also honored by the Berbice Cricket Board with the Tribute to a Hero Award. Lennox was also a very prominent member of the Lions Club. He immigrated to the United States in 1985 and worked at Fairleigh Dickinson University for over 20 years as a Security Officer.

On August 11th, 1956, he married Milly Marjorie Lindee, of Berbice, Guyana. They were married for 62 years until her passing on May 27, 2018. They have three children, Richard Phillips, Lennox Compton Phillips, and Simone Natasha Phillips-Thomas. He has five grandchildren, Candy Phillips-Hohn, Anthony Phillips, Susan Phillips-Hardison, Soleil Thomas, and Ava Simone Thomas.

Lennox has six great-grandchildren, William Hohn (d), Wayne Hohn, Jacob Hohn, Damon V & Dasia Hardison and soon to be expected Baby Hardison. He has a loving daughter-in-law, Marlyn Phillips, a son-in-Law, Gregory Thomas, and grandsons-in-law, Wayne Hohn and Damon Hardison IV. He is also the loving uncle to over sixty nieces and nephews, many of which he and Milly cared for as their own sons or daughters including Jonan, Bertie, Tyrone, Errol, Marilyn, Lorna, Beverley, Bernadette, Courtney, Meechie, Amanda, Debbie, Pasty, Gail Ann, Sally, Penny, Claris, Betty, Lynette, Gloria, Keisha and two Carmen's, Preston, Paul, Bonny, Peter, Sean, Sabrina, Lyn, Hamel and many others. He is survived by five of his twenty siblings, Claudia, Tony, Sandra, Lilith, and Beulah.

He will be remembered as a pillar of strength for his family and community and a well-respected elder whose advice and counsel was greatly sought after. He was a true pioneer in the bauxite industry and a true hero of Berbice Cricket in his beloved homeland of Guyana.
