Kevin David Johns

July 14, 1963 — October 25, 2024

Byron Center

Kevin David Johns, born July 14,1963 in Bucyrus, Ohio, went to be with his Savior,
Jesus, on October 25, 2024, in Melbourne Beach, Florida. He leaves behind a loving
family and a large group of friends, vestiges of a life well lived.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Kane, stepfather, Harold (Dallas)
Kane, and father, David Rowland Johns. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years,
Robin Johns, stepmother, Joann Johns, sister, Kim Sager (Mark), brother, Dustin Johns
(Alex), son, Ben Johns, daughter, Katie Johns, nephews: Joe Sager, Landon Johns,
Crew Johns, Jesse Burks (Denisse), and Caleb Burks (Sarah), nieces: Jazmin Marshall
(Will) and Autumn Lanier (Patrick). He was also blessed with 10 great-nieces and
nephews: Isabelle, Evalyn, Makayah, Joshua, Olivia, Benjamin, Vivienne, Madeleine,
Ezra and Eliana.

He attended Lansing Christian High School and graduated from Calvin College. He
worked in Grand Rapids for 20 years as a Senior Sales Director for snow and ice
equipment, most recently for Royal Truck and Utility Trailer.

Kevin met his wife, Robin, at church camp during their high school years and they
married following college. They were married for 39 “wonderful, glorious years,” as he
would say, and he was a caring and loving husband and best friend to her who will be
deeply missed. They built a life together as part of their church family at Kentwood
Community Church, where Kevin served in the choir for over 30 years. He found joy and
community in this church family and in helping to lead worship.

He was a devoted father who loved, supported, and cherished his two children, Ben and
Katie. He was always there for them with words of wisdom, memories made together,
and his special brand of wit (dad jokes) to make them laugh. He was known for hiding
the final piece of a puzzle, just for fun.

Kevin was a loving brother; always checking in to see how things were going, lending
support when needed, and contributing to many special memories that will never be
forgotten.

He was a wonderful friend; always willing to step in and offer his friendship, a
welcoming presence and share a laugh or two.

Kevin was a coffee lover and a Lions fan (especially lately). He enjoyed playing board
games, cards, and competing in trivia, where he was considered “the ringer”. He was
an avid reader all his life, with spy novels being his favorite. Road trips were a great
opportunity to try out the local restaurants.

As he neared his retirement, he got to check two things off his bucket list: a trip to
Europe and a trip to Alaska with Robin. He loved to travel and discover new places.

One of his favorite things was to plan an adventure, keep the details secret, and
surprise Robin with it.

Kevin was a man of God. He loved the Lord and wanted others to know Him too.
