In Honor of Commander Kenneth Martin Houck
Commander Houck, 59, passed away on April 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of immense service and a heart that, at its core, belonged to everyone he met.
A proud graduate of Penn State, Ken followed in his father’s footsteps, answering the call of duty with bravery few can imagine. As a Navy SEAL, he served numerous tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, dedicating his life to the protection of others.
Before the heavy toll of service took its breath, Ken was defined by a rare and radiant warmth. He was a man who never met a stranger—only friends he hadn't helped yet. Known for his infectious laugh and welcoming spirit, he went out of his way to lift others up, offering a steady hand and a kind word to anyone in need.
While the shadows of war brought profound struggles in his later years, those who knew him best choose to remember the man who stood tall—not just in uniform, but in character. We honor the vibrant, generous soul he was, and the deep sacrifices he made for his country.
The United States Navy SEALs will honor Ken prior to their Memorial Day ceremony at the Navy SEAL Museum on North Hutchinson Island in Fort Pierce, Florida, on Memorial Day, May 25th. As part of this tribute, the SEALs will conduct a ceremonial “swim out,” during which Ken’s remains will be committed to the sea. This will taken place at sunrise, approximately 7:00 AM.
