Joseph Anthony Eaton

March 30, 1955 — January 8, 2026

Cape Caaveral

Joseph Anthony Eaton, 70, of Cape Canaveral, passed away on January 8, 2026.

Joseph Anthony Eaton was born the younger of twin boys in March 1955 in Jackson, MS, and spent his childhood in Little Rock, AR, and Metairie, LA. He later grew up in Memphis and then Nashville, TN. Joe attended the University of Memphis and was employed for several years after college by the City of Memphis. In this occupation, he utilized his artistic talent to create silk-screened designs for signs required by the city.

After moving to Florida in his 30s, he joined Tooters Promotions in Cocoa, FL. Joe was involved in developing and producing logo designs printed on curved glass objects produced by Tooters—an innovative process at the time—and remained employed by Tooters for 35 years until his death at age 70 on January 8, 2026.

Joe died quietly and unexpectedly at home, slipping away in his sleep. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Evelyn Eaton, and his brother and twin, Jeffery Eaton of Hot Springs, AR. He is survived by his sister and her family, Ilona Eaton Willis (Hillman) of Ruston, LA; nieces Kristin Brown and Ann-Willis Brown; grandnieces Katherine and Amelia Brown; and other nieces, a nephew, and various cousins.

Joe loved living in Florida, where he lived quietly without most of his immediate family in recent years. He was close to his mother, with whom he regularly shared NCIS on TV and lottery tickets through long-distance calls. He was a good son and a thoughtful, dependable, and unassuming man, much like his father, with whom he enjoyed fishing. He was a very considerate brother and a good (“walk the second mile”) friend. He will be greatly missed, as are all those who hold a special place in the lives and hearts of their families and friends.

A memorial service will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Joe’s memory to the charity of your choice.
