Hersel Fayte Hackney

Hersel Fayte Hackney passed peacefully on July 05, 2025 in Melbourne, Florida. He was 82 years old. He is survived by; his wife of 60 years, Darlene, and his son, daughter-in-law, and daughter, Ryan, Audry, and Lydia, three grandchildren, Michael, Victoria, and Anastazia, and two great-grandchildren, Leo and Eve. He also has a living sister and brother, Katherine Ramey and Blake Hackney, both of whom reside in Eastern Kentucky.

Born in Pike County, Kentucky in 1942 to Ercil and Beulah Hackney, Hersel lived a long and wonderful life. He grew up in the area of Ferrells Creek with his six brothers and sisters, later enlisting in the United States Air Force and serving during Vietnam. Returning to his hometown and roots he accomplished many things, becoming a pillar within the community he grew up in. He was a devoted husband, father, and cared deeply for his family and friends, both of which were numerous. He was loved and respected by those who knew him, and he will be sorely missed.
