Dominique Fanchon Thomas was born on December 30, 1967, in Washington, D.C. to Gloria Jean (Harris) and Edward Gilbert Thomas, Jr. She spent her early years growing up in Washington, D.C., before relocating to Largo, MD and then to Greenbelt, MD. Also, during her teen years, Dominique was a proud Cadet member of the National Capital Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, which is a civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. Being the daughter of an Officer of the U.S. Secret Service / Uniformed Division and an FCC Librarian, she fondly remembered attending the White House Easter Egg Rolls on the South Lawn of the White House.
In 1990, she met and fell in love with her life partner, Evan Arnold Smith. They lived in Greenbelt, MD, until 2013, when they moved to Melbourne, FL.
