Angela Veronica Barrett, a longtime resident of New York, and more recently Palm Bay, Florida and native of Mandeville, Jamaica, passed away on April 16, 2026. Angela lived a life filled with love of and for family, friends, children, seniors, the physically and mentally challenged, music, singing, fashion, eating out and her church.
Her love of reading, geography and history led to her career in publishing, as editor/proofreader. Her longest tenure being with R.R. Bowker. Because of her passion for fashion, she would always have a part time job in some of the most well-known New York stores. Eventually she became a full-time employee at Saks Fifth Avenue, where she worked until her retirement. This was a very happy period of her life, enhanced by singing in quite a few choirs and her solo performances at various events.
Angela attended Knox College and Manchester high schools in Jamaica. She was a student of independent learning, music and books.
She is survived by, siblings, several cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, aunts and one uncle, who reside in Jamaica, the US, UK and Canada.
Angela is predeceased by her father, Burchell Barrett and her dear mother, Ivy Imogene Stephenson.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM at The Episcopal-Anglican Church of Our Savior. Her internment will be in the Memorial Garden at the Church.
